Church Weddings

Grace's Wedding

Was pleasantly surprised when Grace handed me an invitation. It was my first time a wedding invitation was addressed to me & me alone! =) haha... cos the previous times are always relatives mah.. so naturally they were addressed to my parents. Anw was reali kinda excited, but on the other hand troubled. cos i dun have anything to wear! Cos most of my clothes have become my working office wear already & i dun wanna wear those to attend my officer's wedding. So those few days when i went out shopping, it was always with a purpose - to find something to wear to Grace's wedding. 皇天不负苦心人 i finally got a dress/coat/i-dunno-how-to-call-it! that i've always wanted to get!! =) Lusi said the previous time when i saw that kinda clothes, it was also in the exact same shop at bugis village where i bought mine. Haha...

okay, to the wedding. Hmm, we bought a electric cooker & bedsheets for Grace. Guess who brought it home from the office? (They bought it at **** @ tm =p) Guess who brought it to the church @ Sengkang from the house @ aljunied?? U've guessed it! Yours Truly ME lah! Wah, so heavy. But still quite managable lah. Even met Yu Cheng (Pri Sch classmate) at the bus stop, taking same bus summore! Thou he's going Hougang (dropped off earlier than me =S) to his friend's or girlfriend's (didnt reali catch it. shall ask him if got e chance again ;D) house.

Oops. got diverged again =x
The wedding was nice. Met up with Sok Cheng, Siew Theng & Agnes (Plaza by the Park, faxed IFID0018 to her every fri! =D ) at Sengkang Int. Sylvia came to meet us at the church.
Firstly the reception. Signed on the book & flipped through their album. So nice! Especially like Grace when she dolled up in the traditional chinese customes with that two adorable pigtails!! =D so kawaii!!!
Then there was the doorgift. So elegant! It was actually only 2 honeysticks bundled together. But there was some flowers (white & yellow. Yellow's the bride's fav colour so alot of deco eg balloons were yellow) tied to them. So 2 simple honeystix were upgraded. Heard that Grace & her sis did all the doorgifts by themselves. **A round of applause** Li Hai! Pei Fu! no wonder the emcee said the thing she likes to do most is 'use her hands' NOT 'scratching' like what her hubby said. LOL
The ceremony was kinda solemn though there was a band singing songs. Ooh, i especially like the table with 3 candles. Many might not have made the connection, but that's what i think:
the 2 smaller candles were initially lit by the moms of the bride & groom.
Then the couple lit the third, middle, tallest candle using the 2 smaller ones.
I would suppose the 2 smaller ones represent them, & by asking the moms to light it was to represent their lives are given by their parents.
The 3rd was lit by them to symbolise the marriage. The couple lit it together represent the start of them being together.
SO SWEET right? of cos the motive could have being otherwise, after all, the above mentioned are purely my own thinking ;) too much literature in secondary school lah... pai seh pai seh
And of cos the usual exchange of vows, thanking their moms (with bouquets of flowers) & photo-takings. There was also a slideshow by Grace's brother, showing photos of the couple right from the start. Then we all realised the stage where the groom started to grow horizontally. *whoops*
Finally REFRESHMENT time. lol. the food was great! v nice! love pandan chicken!! Peter (our level head. They seems surprised that he was there, given his status) & his wife were initially at our table. But as we left for food, our seats were taken =( luckily we managed to squeeze back a bit of space enough for us ladies =) & before we start, i realise the Q was v long, so i decided to go for the dessert 1st =p Orh Ni~ OOH.. i love orh ni (芋泥 yam paste lah ;p) but in e end, i still went to get the food with the rest & settle for the main course 1st. Hee hee.. by the time Sok Cheng & Sylvia wanted to get the orh ni, it was ALL GONE, ALL 3 TABLES. wahahaha... then they praised me for being smart ;) (okay okay... i exaggerated about that. They didnt praise me. Just commented lah)
Then it was going off time. Felt a bit weird leh... Like not much mood by the time we left. Maybe tt's e difference with hotel dinner & such reception. The feeling of everyone leaving together & the couple standing by the exit to receive well wishes seem more emotional...

Nonetheless, thanks Grace! =) all the best

Mr Goh's Wedding

Was supposed to go as a class. Since the invitation (note: only one was sent) was sent in representation of the class. But ay, s02 ppl always last minute dun wanna go. Hmm, correction, dun wanna put blame on the innocents. Some people always last minute dun wan go. Lucky i was smart (not to trust her too much, after oh-too-many-times-of-disappointment) & has a network of friends. So in e end, meet up with s03 people instead.
Funny lor. How i always seem to be able to click with s03 ppl. NJ muz have put me in e wrong class!!

Anw the wedding was a lighter tone than Grace's. the pastor (is that what u called him??) was very humorous! & much more grand (in terms of space & well-wishers) Worhz. Mr Goh invited soooo many ppl! Alot of NJCians & teachers also... then e usual, song-singing, band & photo-taking (thou cos this time round, it wasnt catagorised as neatly as Grace's)....
oh! there was this slide made from photos in their album. It started with Mr Goh running. haha.. his expression was kinda funny. Dunno he is enjoying too much or wad... hee hee...
then there was also a song by Mrs Goh's friends. Kinda sweet they composed a song just for her. There was slideshow along with it.
But the refreshment time. At last i saw the doorgifts. Standard cakes in boxes. Wanted to take when im going home. But this time, it seems i wasnt very smart. by the time i was going off, the cakes were all gone ): And then there wasnt enough seats. Hmm, about 300++ ppl? & there were 5 tables (labelled "for friends & relatives") & about 20 odds chairs without table at the other corner. Okay, so in e end, we settled for standing to eat our food. Oh. I like the potato-wrapped prawns! So nice! =) (the caterer was recently featured in U-wkly. then i showed mom e prawns. hopefully she'l make it someday. *hopefully* *cross fingers* *pray hard*)
So in e end, i went off to novena square (1st time there!) with s03 ppl (Michelle, May, Mei Ting, Yan Ying). Shopped ard a bit, went to "Toys R Us" LOL went to foodcourt where Yan Ying had his fill while e rest of us watched him eat (HAHA) & chatted. Wanted to go Ben & Jerry store after that. But it was occupied! by people we've met earlier on. So we juz stone around a bit. Got to talk to Yan Ying. Nv knew this guy existed until that day. lolx. but found him qt a nice person. Goodness. He was in s02 for O2 leh! whereas tyq was in s03. he was commenting that he didnt c me during orientation. of cos! i was back in s14 =p *shhh* goodness. if only things could remain that way lor. he seems a much nicer person than the other exchange. sigh. too bad. anyway, his sis also in ntu material eng! so cool! nxt time need ath, ask michelle ask him ask his sis. wor~ wad a long link! haha

oh, aft tt, when e rest *finally* decided to go Coffee Beans, me & michelle decided to go home. Not reali lah, we went to get dinner. Couldnt find e reali nice foodcourt Michelle recommended (under renovation. turned out it moved to e foodcourt we've juz gone to) so went to toa payoh kou fu instead.

All in all, quite a nice outing with Michelle. :)
OH! & i got e xin niang 18 sui! yeah!
thanks michelle!! =)

Whenever they say 3 people in church wedding, my 1st thought would always be a kid. But no, to them, the 3rd person is always God. Hmm...
